Fountaindale Collects More than 4,000 Items in Food for Fines

Fountaindale Public Library in Bolingbrook has successful food for fines event, but doesn't fare well in the storm.

Fountaindale Public Library collected an impressive 2,455 items during its Annual Food for Fines promotion as part of National Library Week, which just passed. During this two week promotion, the library was able to remove $1,807.34 from patron accounts. Patrons were forgiven $2.00 for each item donated, up to $20.00 could be credited per card.

  • Patch told you about the closure of Studio 300 in a story on Monday. The facility, in the Fountaindale Public Library, opened a little more than a month ago, but the studio, which is in the lower level of the library, bore the brunt of the damage from the heavy rains last week. A reopen date is not yet known.
  • From 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce will host an open house where you can meet new CEO Michael Carpanzano. The event will be held at the Bolingbrook Chamber Office (Community Center), 201-B Canterbury Lane.
  • The Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon cutting for one businesses next week: Hawthorne Off-Track Betting Parlor at McQ's Sports Dome, 730 N Bolingbrook Dr., from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., April 29.
