Man Slashes Brother's Vehicle Tire: Bolingbrook Police

Bolingbrook police were again clear that the incident was not a hate crime.

BOLINGBROOK, IL —Five days after a resident's vehicle tire was slashed and a rock was thrown through the window, Bolingbrook police arrested the victim's brother in connection with the incident. Police said the car was vandalized at 2:20 a.m. July 12 on Caribou Court, and the victim even posted surveillance video of the incident to Facebook.

On July 17, detectives arrested the victim's brother, Thomas J. Kelly, 19, of the 0-100 block of Trent Court, for slashing the tire. An investigation into two other suspects continues.

"This WAS NOT a random act of violence or hate crime, instead the victim and suspect were well known to each other and stemmed from a personal matter," police said in a statement Friday.
