May Is Declared Motorcycle Awareness Month In Bolingbrook
"All roadways users should unite in the safe sharing of roadways with the Village of Bolingbrook."
Bolingbrook, IL – A proclamation given by Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta at the April 27th Village of Bolingbrook Board Meeting declared that May, 2021 would be known as Motorcycle Awareness Month. The motorcyclists of Illinois have contributed extensive volunteerism and money to national and community charitable organizations. During the month of May, all roadways users should unite in the safe sharing of roadways with the Village of Bolingbrook and throughout the great State of Illinois.
Chris Hansen of the A.B.A.T.E. (A Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education) organization was present at the meeting to accept the proclamation. Statistics on vehicle accidents and fatalities involving cars and motorcycles emphasize why the awareness month is so important. Chris provided background on methods to ensure that motorcycle riders remain safe while driving including the very important fact that automobile drives focus on the road, not on their phones, while driving.
