Operation Christmas – Bolingbrook: A Community United in Holiday Giving
Community members and youth volunteers join forces as registration for the 2025 season approaches its November 30th deadline.
As the holiday season approaches, Operation Christmas – Bolingbrook continues its mission of bringing joy, dignity, and support to local families in need. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit has become a vital resource for families throughout Bolingbrook and Romeoville, offering assistance to children from newborns to 17 years old—an age range many other holiday programs often overlook.
Operation Christmas – Bolingbrook stands out not only for the families it serves, but also for the people behind the mission. Each year, a dedicated team of volunteers—adults, families, community groups, and youth come together to lift the spirits of local children. Their efforts include collecting donations, preparing gift packages, organizing events, staffing toy drives, and ensuring every detail is handled with care and compassion.
“Our volunteers are the backbone of this organization,” said President Lee Bush Jr. “Whether they’re teens are sorting toys, parents helping pack gifts, or retirees greeting families, every volunteer plays a vital role. We are truly a community helping community.”

Registration for the 2025 season is currently open, with families encouraged to sign up early. Registration will close on November 30th, giving parents and guardians a limited window to enroll and secure assistance for their children.
Local businesses, schools, churches, and families also contribute to the program through sponsorships, donation boxes, fundraising, and volunteer service. The impact is felt widely throughout the community, serving as a reminder of how powerful a united effort can be.
“This work happens because our community believes in taking care of one another,” Bush Jr. said. “Every volunteer, every donor, every supporter helps us make sure local children feel hope and joy during the holidays.”
