Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

Michelle has been working in education for the last 20 years, starting as a paraprofessional before moving into a teacher's aid position. She found so much joy in mentoring the youth that she went back to school to get her teaching credentials and has never looked back. She is truly an advocate for the children; not just her students, but any child who has come to her looking for guidance in their life. Michelle finds particular joy in assisting her students with special needs; whether it be a learning disability or modifying content for her students on the spectrum. Michelle does the work, keeps her head down, and never shies away from fighting for her students. Often overlooked are the extra hours put in, at school or at home, grading papers, answering parent emails, or just checking in on a family in need.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?

Her love and dedication go far beyond the classroom to show her students and their families understand that they have a true partner; not only for the academic year, but for life.
