VVSD Earns Highest Financial Reporting Honor From GFOA
This achievement represents the first year in the history of VVSD the District has received this high honor.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Valley View Community Unit School District 365U Board of Education and Administration have announced that the District has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, the District shared in a news release.
This award recognizes the VVSD's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024, the District said.
This achievement represents the first year in the history of VVSD the District has received this high honor. VVSD is one of only 23 out of 830 school districts in the region to receive this award. All the reports submitted were judged in 19 categories, VVSD’s report received the highest rating in all 19 categories.

“We are honored to receive the GFOA Certificate of Achievement,” said John Reiniche, VVSD Asst. Superintendent for Administrative Services. “This award is a testament to the dedication of our entire finance team, who work tirelessly to ensure that our financial data is not only meticulously accurate but also presented in a way that is clear, and fully accessible to our taxpayers and community members. Fiscal transparency is a top priority as we manage resources to serve the educational needs of our students.”
According to the District, the GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement program to encourage state and local governments, including school districts, to surpass the minimum requirements of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and instead produce Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports that demonstrate a constructive "spirit of full disclosure."

"This recognition is a reflection of our District’s commitment to our community. It assures our parents, staff, and residents that we are being responsible stewards of their tax dollars and prioritizing the financial stability that supports quality education," VVSD Board President Steve Quigley said. "We preach accountability. It’s the top priority for the Board and for the Administration and we really do appreciate the efforts of our staff who compiled and prepared all the data that led to VVSD being recognized by GFOA.”
