VVSD Opens Search For Next Superintendent Of Schools
Current superintendent Keith Wood is set to retire on June 30, 2026.
WILL COUNTY, IL — The Board of Education of Valley View Community Unit School District 365U has announced the start of its search for a new Superintendent of Schools, the District said in a news release. Current superintendent Keith Wood is set to retire on June 30, 2026.
The new superintendent would assume leadership on July 1, 2026, the District said.
Valley View School District includes the communities of Bolingbrook, Romeoville, and parts of Plainfield, Lockport and Downers Grove. VVSD 365U educates approximately 15,500 students in 21 educational facilities, the District said.

The District's name "365U" reflects its historical use of a year-round calendar- a creative solution to the explosive growth of the 1970s. The use of a year-round calendar was eventually discontinued as need decreased.
VVSD is a major employer in Will County, with over 2,400 full-time staff members.

The first step in the Superintendent Search process is a VVSD Community Survey, offering
community members the opportunity to express their hopes and desires regarding the next leader of the VVSD community, the district said. This survey is open to VVSD students, parents, staff and the entire community. The survey can be taken online here.
Interested candidates for the position should submit application materials no later than noon on Aug. 15. This will be a confidential search, and the position will remain open until it is filled, the district said.
Candidates are prohibited from contacting Board members about this process. The Board estimates that first round interview will be done on Sept. 22, second round interviews on Oct. 20 and a decision and contract for board approval on Nov. 17.
The starting salary for the position is $210,000-$265,000, the District said.
