Work Approved For Bolingbrook High School Track Replacement

BOLINGBROOK, IL — At its Monday meeting, the Valley View Board of Education approved a revised scope of work for the Bolingbrook High School track replacement.

In February, the Board approved the track replacement project, but needs to amend the scope of work on the project based on final site conditions, according to Board documents.

The project was approved for a base bid of $423,900, and demolition started at the end of May.

Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services John Reiniche said the scope of the work will require a replacement of the entire track, and that the old track was over 20 years old.

As work began on the track, it was found that the there was a "significant amount" of soft soil areas under the asphalt of the track, according to Board documents.

The new scope of work now includes the full removal and replacement of the asphalt material. This will remove any weak soils, and make sure there is a proper structure for the new track.

This revised scope of work was approved at a cost not to exceed $165,000.
