Buffalo Grove Police Cracking Down On Drivers On Their Phones In April
The month-long effort is part of the Drop It And Drive campaign, which targets distracted drivers on their phones talking or texting.
BUFFALO GROVE, IL — In an effort to cut down on the number of distracted drivers on local roads, Buffalo Grove Police will be conducting a month-long enforcement to target drivers who may be on their phones while behind the wheel, the department recently announced.
The enforcement effort began on Saturday and will run through April, which is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Local police officers have partnered with other law enforcement agencies across Illinois and the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the effort. The Buffalo Grove Police Department is one of 200 agencies participating in the enforcement campaign.
Local drivers can expect to see increased patrols and safety enforcement zones through April 30, Buffalo Grove police officials said.

“Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle crashes on our roads today,” Buffalo Grove Police Sgt Tony Turano said in a news release. “During Distracted Driving Awareness Month, law enforcement will boost enforcement efforts, stopping anyone who is texting and driving. Remember, if you have a phone in one hand, you can expect a ticket in the other.”
The Illinois distracted driving campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by IDOT.
