BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Despite a recent uptick in coronavirus cases across the United States, millions of Americans are likely to move ahead with Labor Day celebrations this year, marking the holiday with outdoor barbecues, town festivals and family camping trips.

While celebrating safely is paramount, Mother Nature also holds the power to make or break a perfect outdoor holiday celebration.

Will Mother Nature be on our side this Labor Day weekend? We may be in luck, though it looks like a mixed bag, according to the most recent forecast for Buffalo Grove.

Don't forget, Buffalo Grove Days kicks off Thursday and runs through Monday. There will be musical entertainment Friday through Sunday at the carnival, with two bands playing each night, and a DJ playing before and after.

Other entertainment will include the Buffalo Grove Park District presents Big Deal Productions "Year in Review," from 2-2:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, on the main stage. Local food trucks will be serving food, though there will be no food tent, to encourage social distancing at the family event. The Park District will be selling soft drinks and alcoholic beverages.

As you head home from work Friday evening or start an extra-long weekend earlier, expect it to be mostly overcast throughout the day, with a high of 73. There is an 15 percent chance of rain.

For Saturday, expect overcast conditions throughout the day, with a high of 75. There is a 46 percent chance of rain.

On Sunday, it should be clear throughout the day, with a high of 79. There is a 9 percent chance of rain.

For Labor Day Monday, conditions should be clear throughout the day, with a high of 77 predicted. The chance of rain is currently at 9 percent.
