Construction Worker Seriously Injured After Car Strikes Truck: Lake County Sheriff

The crash, which occurred Thursday night in Long Grove, remains under investigation.

LONG GROVE, IL — A worker was seriously injured Thursday night when a car struck a roadway construction truck. According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, the 42-year-old worker's injuries may be critical, but no one else was hurt in the crash.

Roadway construction workers were retrieving construction equipment at around 9:15 p.m. on Old McHenry Road, in the area of Prairie Wind Road. Police said the crew had a construction truck parked on the east side of Old McHenry Road with yellow flashing lights activated.

At the same time, a Ford F350 truck, driven by a 38-year-old Hawthorn Woods man, was traveling northbound on Old McHenry Road. Police said the driver of the Ford struck the construction vehicle, which caused a worker standing on the bed of the roadway construction truck to be thrown from the truck to the ground.

The crash remains under investigation by the LCSO's technical crash investigations team. According to police, charges will be reviewed following the conclusion of the investigation.
