BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The Lenten season is underway, which is annually a popular time to frequent restaurants offering fried fish on the menu. In addition, many civic groups hold fish fry events throughout February and March. Lent began on Feb. 14 and runs through March 28.

The fish fry returns Friday, March 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The fish fry ($16) features beer-battered Atlantic cod served with coleslaw & choice of a side. Fish sandwich also available.

The all-you-can-eat Friday night fish fry starts back up March 7. It includes a Lake Perch dinner ($22.75) and Cod Dinner ($16.75).

The all-you-can-eat fish fry special ($26.99) at Deerfield Italian Kitchen, available Friday, Saturday and Sunday, includes Icelandic cod and wild caught Canadian lake perch. Served with a side of fries, lemon and tartar sauce.

Kinnane's Famous Fish N' Chips ($21.95), according to the menu, features a fresh heaping of Alaskan cod fillets dipped in the restaurant's special recipe Guinness beer batter, served traditionally with Irish "chips," Killarney sauce and coleslaw.
