Gold Medal Pursuit: Buffalo Grove's Bozek Competes Wednesday

BEIJING — In a rematch of the 2018 gold medal game, the U.S. Olympic women's ice hockey team squares off with Canada, in a contest scheduled for Thursday in Beijing and airing at 10:10 p.m. CT Wednesday. The game will air live on NBC.

Buffalo Grove's Megan Bozek, a graduate of Stevenson High School, is one of five Chicagoland residents playing for the U.S. team.

The U.S. team has only one loss during these Olympics, a 4-2 defeat to Canada on Feb. 7 in the preliminary round.

Bozek is joined in Beijing by local hockey players Kendall Coyne Schofield, of Palos Heights, Savannah Harmon, of Downers Grove, Abbey Murphy, of Evergreen Park and Jesse Compher, of Northbrook.

Bozek is competing in the Games for the second time. She was a member of the team that won a bronze medal at the Sochi Olympic Games in 2014.

Bozek is a 2009 graduate of Stevenson High School. She played collegiate ice hockey at the University of Minnesota and helped guide them to national championships in both her junior (2011-2012) and senior (2012-2013) seasons.
