Join Buffalo Grove Police For National Coffee With A Cop Day

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — As the celebration nears a decade of existence, National Coffee with a Cop Day returns next week, with the Buffalo Grove Police Department set to participate. The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve.

While National Coffee with a Cop Day is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 1, Buffalo Grove police will be participating two days later from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Bear Family McDonald's, 1200 N. Arlington Heights Road.

"Stop in to chat with our officers and enjoy a cup of coffee on us," the department said in a social media post.

The day, which originated at a California McDonald's in 2011, became part of National Community Policing Week five years later. National Coffee with a Cop Day now continues each year typically on the first Wednesday in October.

The event is intended to further efforts nationwide to bridge the gap between the community and the law. According to the event's website, Coffee with a Cop events are held in over 40 countries and are conducted in nine different languages.
