Passenger Killed In Hawthorn Woods Car Crash: Lake County Coroner

The two-vehicle crash occurred Saturday afternoon at North Fairfield Road and Holmes Avenue.

HAWTHORN WOODS, IL — A passenger of a vehicle involved in a two-car crash was killed Saturday afternoon. According to the Lake County Coroner's Office, AnnMarie Macias-Lauritzen, 28, of Round Lake Beach, sustained fatal blunt force injuries of the head and neck as a result of the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hawthorn Woods police and the Lake Zurich Fire Department responded to the crash at around 4:37 p.m. at North Fairfield Road and Holmes Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found two cars — a 2007 Honda Accord and a 2014 Honda CR-V — with heavy damage. Based on the seriousness of the crash, the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County was called to assist with the investigation.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the 2014 Honda CR-V was traveling southbound on North Fairfield Road, when it reportedly crossed the double yellow line and struck a 2007 Honda Accord, which was traveling northbound on North Fairfield Road. Both drivers were taken to area hospitals.

The Lake County Coroner's Office was notified and responded to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hawthorn Woods Police Department and MCAT.
