Shopper Reports $10K Loss After Wallet Stolen From Purse: Blotter

A woman whose wallet was stolen found $10,000 in fraudulent charges after contacting her credit card company: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Alexandra J. Rea, 34, of the 1300 block of Ashland Avenue, Evanston, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more. She was arrested on Nov. 19 at 1:05 a.m. at Half Day Road/Buffalo Grove Road.

Joshua Guzman, 25, of the 1200 block of Brentwood Drive, Round Lake Beach, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was arrested on Nov. 2o at 4:13 a.m. at Lake Cook Road and Arlington Heights Road.

DRIVING ON SUSPENDED LICENSE

David E. Lehtman, 49, of the 100 block of Autumn Court, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving on a suspended license. He was arrested on Nov. 22 at 12:08 a.m. at Highland Grove/Pauline.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

  • On Nov. 17 at 10:40 a.m., a person experiencing homelessness reported that his generator, which was secured to a tree, was stolen while he was sleeping in the 1000 block of Commerce Court.
  • On Nov. 18 at 8:55 a.m., a resident in the 1700 block of Johnson Drive reported that his airpods were stolen from his jacket pocket while the jacket was hung up by the entrance door to an apartment building clubhouse.
  • On Nov. 22 at 12:27 p.m., a shopper at Mariano's Fresh Market (450 W. Half Day Road) reported that her wallet was stolen out of her purse while she was shopping. She contacted her credit card company and was told that almost $10,000 of fraudulent charges were made around the time she discovered her cards missing.

THEFT OF MOTOR PARTS

  • Several vehicle owners reported on Nov. 17 at 6 a.m. that their catalytic converters were stolen overnight while their vehicles were parked in a lot in the 100 block of Stepple Drive.
  • A vehicle owner reported on Nov. 19 at 10:30 p.m. that his catalytic converter was stolen overnight while his vehicle was parked in the lot of a complex in the 1100 block of Miller Lane.
  • A vehicle owner reported on Nov. 20 at 3:30 a.m. that his catalytic converter was stolen overnight while his vehicle was parked in a driveway in the 700 block of Thornton Drive.
  • A vehicle owner reported on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. that his catalytic converter was stolen over the weekend while his vehicle was parked in the lot of a complex in the 800 block of Miller Lane.

AGGRAVATED USE OF UNLAWFUL WEAPON

  • On Nov. 20 at 4:13 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle crash at Lake Cook Road and Arlington Heights Road. The vehicle had overturned, and its sole occupant had exited and was not injured. A gun was visible inside the vehicle from outside of its driver side window, and officers took it and arrested the driver on a felony charge.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT

  • On Nov. 21 at 3:30 p.m., a vehicle was parked in the vacuum area of Royal Car Wash at 1701 Weiland Road. The attendant left the vehicle to go inside the car wash, and when he returned, the vehicle's rear passenger side window was broken. Nothing was reported missing from the vehicle and there was no glass inside of it.

HARASSMENT THROUGH ELECTRONICS

  • On Nov. 21 at 6:52 p.m., a U.S. Census Bureau employee in the 1100 block of Johnson Drive reported receiving threats from an unknown male after attempting to contact a resident as part of the census. The resident said she was not aware of the threats but had told the census worker that she did not wish to participate. Despite her wishes, he has continued to attempt to contact her. The census worker was told to cease all contact, and the resident was advised to reach out to the person making the threats and have him stop as well.

POSSESSION OF CANNABIS — LESS THAN 10G

On Nov. 22 at 8:28 a.m. at Buffalo Grove Road and Lake Cook Road, a vehicle driver was issued a citation for improperly transporting cannabis inside a vehicle.
