BUFFALO GROVE, IL—Smoke testing continued Thursday in the Cambridge neighborhood, Cambridge on the Lake and Grove Terrace condominiums. The testing may also continue into Friday, according to Buffalo Grove officials.
Smoke testing is one technique used to identify areas where unnecessary groundwater or rainfall is entering the sewer system, which can cause basement backups, overflows, and higher costs for treatment.
Village officials stressed that the smoke used for the study is non‐toxic, low odor, creates no fire hazard, leaves no residue, dissipates quickly, and is harmless.
