A Canadian man was killed after he <a href="https://patch.com/illinois/burrridge/i-294-southbound-closed-after-car-flies-interstate">lost control of his car and it flew off Interstate 294</a> Thursday afternoon.Gary Smith, 78, was killed after he crossed into oncoming traffic, hit two other cars and ran off the road, the Illinois State Police said.Smith was heading south when he lost control of his car about 3:30 p.m. near Wolf Road.There were no other injuries, police said.The state police shut down all lanes of I-294 and diverted traffic into Interstate 55.<hr />photo via Patch archive
