Late at night on Nov. 15, surveillance camera footage showed that Davenport approached a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at Brothers Mexican Grill, 1014 S. La Grange Road, but fell down near it, according to the report.

He got up more than 10 minutes later, but tumbled again, police said.

A minute later, he entered the truck and apparently used a key fob to steal it, police said.

The owners reported the theft the next afternoon.

With the help of OnStar, the truck was found at Sock Bar in Hickory Hills on Nov. 17, police said.

Speaking with Sock Bar employees, La Grange police discovered that Davenport, who works at a country club, left the key fob with the bar, saying it wasn't his, according to the report.

An employee told police that Davenport was believed to be a retired Cook County sheriff's deputy, the report said. Patch, which left a message for comment with La Grange on Monday, was unable to confirm that information.

Camera footage showed Davenport getting out of the stolen pickup truck at Sock Bar and having poor balance and swaying, police said. A woman later got him an Uber to go home, the report said.

On Dec. 9, police showed up at Davenport's front door in the 4100 block of Elm Avenue in Brookfield. He was taken to the La Grange police station.

In an interview, Davenport told police that someone took his key fob at Sock Bar because he was intoxicated, describing the night as a blur, according to the report.

Davenport said he borrowed the pickup truck at Brothers Mexican Grill because he did not have his own car at the time, police said.
