A $10.5M Burr Ridge Village Hall? It's On Table
The village suggests a possible new spot for its complex. But it also could stay put with big upgrades.

BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge is looking at its choices for Village Hall, a building that officials say needs a lot of work.
Officials plan to discuss a couple of options at Monday's Village Board meeting. A presentation was made available online Thursday.
One of the options is to build on an undeveloped outlot near Starbucks at the Village Center shopping complex.

The current 15,000-square-foot Village Hall at 7660 S. County Line Road was built in 1985. Originally, the police department was inside, but the village constructed a new building for the police in 2010.
Eighteen people work at Village Hall, a number that the village doesn't expect to increase. The boardroom has a capacity for 35 people.

Twenty years ago, a study showed that Village Hall was outmoded, according to the presentation. The village said it spends $125,000 a year maintaining Village Hall.
To extend the building's life for 30 years, it would cost the village $6 million in upgrades, according to the presentation.
At the Village Center, a new two-story building would be 13,000 square feet, with storage and utilities in the basement. It would handle 22 employees and include a boardroom with a capacity for 75 people, the village said.
Such a building, which officials say would last 40 years, is estimated to cost $10.5 million.
For years, officials have talked about issues with Village Hall. A few months ago, the mayor said a frog invasion helped make the case for a new building.
