100 Blank Checks, Secret Scrapper: Police Blotter

Burr Ridge police reports, March 28

THURSDAY, MARCH 28

Owner Search

A suspicious vehicle was reported at 8:16 p.m. on the 100 block of Kraml Drive. Police found the vehicle unoccupied and searched the area for the owner. Dispatch called the registered owner to have the vehicle removed.

Such a Scrapper

Some people were going through scrap materials on the 8400 block of Walredon Avenue at 5:15 p.m. An officer warned them to obtain a permit if they wanted to continue.

Identity Theft

A resident at 3:54 p.m. reported that someone used his or her debit card to make purchases totaling over $200. The incident is under investigation.

Employees vs. Employees

Several employees at 2:17 p.m. were involved in a verbal dispute on the 7700 block of Grant Street. Management stated they were aware of the situation and working with the employees. No complaints were signed.

Theft Over $500

Someone took over 100 blank checks and over $2,000 cash from a business on the 6900 block of High Grove Boulevard, police reported at 2:15 p.m. The incident is under investigation.

No Driver's License

Juan Alvarez-Chavez, 21, of the 4600 block of North Springfield Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving without a valid driver's license and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. He was driving his 1997 Chevrolet S10 pickup at Central Avenue and Village Road at 11:36 a.m. when police stopped and arrested him.

Bernard on the Loose

A St. Bernard at 10:50 a.m. was running at large at 79th Street and Garfield Avenue. Police were unable to locate the dog.
