Shortly before 11 p.m. Nov. 15, Perez got into an argument with someone about text messages and a romantic issue at the quinceañera at American Legion Post 1941, 900 S. La Grange Road, police said.

Perez and another person were arguing outside the post when an officer arrived. She was in the passenger seat of a car, while the other person was standing at her window. They were separated.

As she retrieved her belongings, Perez exchanged words with someone else leaving the quinceañera, police said.

Outside the American Legion, officers said they saw three people fighting and going toward the ground.

They were separated, but the report didn't indicate what happened in that situation. Because of redactions in the report, it was unclear whether Perez was involved.

Inside a squad car, Perez kicked and banged on the rear driver's side door, police said.

Inside the car, an officer found on the floor the handcuffs that had been on Perez, police said. The officer tried to put them back on, but Perez became combative, kicking the officer in the legs, according to the report.

Several officers helped to put on the handcuffs.

In an interview with police, Perez denied any physical contact with the officer.

Perez was taken to the Cook County Jail.
