BURR RIDGE, IL – A Burr Ridge country club is undergoing an $18 million renovation that will include expanding the space for dining and events, the club said Thursday.

At its request, Edgewood Valley Country Club, which is at 7500 Willow Springs Road, was annexed into Burr Ridge last year.

Officials said the club wanted to perform the work with a local government that is responsive to its needs, instead of Cook County.

The renovation started in May and is expected to be completed next July.

Besides the expanded dining and ballroom spaces, the project includes extended patio seating, three built-in firepits, and expanded and shaded pool lounging, according to a club statement.

It is also set to feature a poolside cabana bar, an indoor and outdoor first-floor bar, and a second-floor terrace next to the ballroom.

Edgewood Valley's clubhouse was built in 1926, measuring about 10,000 square feet, the club said. Over the years, it grew to 39,000 square feet.

With the latest project, the clubhouse is set to gain nearly 10,000 more square feet.

"After years of active planning and research, our members voted to approve the renovation’s financing and plan, knowing the end result would have a tremendous impact to satisfy the outstanding needs of the membership," the club's president, James Doehring, said in the statement.
