Darien Police Reports: Car Burglary, Retail Theft, Trespass

Darien Police Department reported crimes through July 17.

Jason Patton, 25 of the 300 block of Lexington Drive in Bolingbrook, was arrested July 11 and charged with retail theft and criminal trespass to property. Patton was processed and released with a court date of Aug. 16 in Wheaton. Karli Cagney, 25 of the 300 block of Lexington Drive in Bolingbrook, was arrested July 11 and charged with retail theft and criminal trespass to property. Cagney was processed and released with a court date of Aug. 16 in Wheaton. Both Patton and Cagney were arrested for retail theft when they tried to remove clothing, hair color and a video game past the last point of sale from Walmart, 2189 75th St. Both were arrested for criminal trespass to property for violating a no trespass order issued by Walmart loss prevention on a previous incident. Estimated value $67.

At about 12:30 a.m. July 15, an alarm was triggered at a phone store in the 7500 block of Cass Avenue. Someone used a heavy object to break a window to gain entry to the store. Eight cell phones and two iPads were reported stolen. The stimated value of loss $6,100.

A resident in the 800 block of 69th Street reported that at about 7:15 p.m. July 15, someone broke an unlocked storm door. No entry was made to the residence. The estimated damage loss is $300.

Rachel Sitkiewicz, 24 of the 6900 block of Brookbank Road in Darien, was arrested July 15 and charged with a local ordinance of retail theft when she attempted to remove clothing and electronics past the last point of sale from Walmart, 2189 75th St. Sitkiewicz was processed and released on scene with a court date pending at the Downers Grove Field Court. Estimated value of merchandise $65.

Kevin Lee, 25 of the 13100 block of Meadowview Lane in Homer Glen, was arrested July 16 and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of cannabis, driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding on Cass Avenue at Interstate 55. Lee was processed and transported to the DuPage County Jail in Wheaton to await a bond hearing.

A resident in the 100 block of Holly Avenue reported that between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. July 16, someone removed various items from the unlocked, covered bed of a pick-up truck and put the items on the grass. The cover on a fishing boat was also removed. The pick-up truck was located on the driveway. Estimated loss $0.

A resident in the 6900 block of Crest Road reported that between 3 and 7:30 a.m. July 16, someone entered three unlocked vehicles on the driveway. Various tools and power tools were stolen with an estimated value of $2,765.

A resident in the 500 block of 70th Street reported that between July 15 at approximately 8:30 p.m. and July 16 at 8 a.m., someone entered two vehicles parked on the driveway. No signs of forced entry and it is unknown if the vehicles were locked. Three pairs of sunglasses were stolen with an estimated value of $545.

A resident in the 500 block of 70th Street reported that between July 15 at approximately 9 p.m. and July 16 at 8 a.m., someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway. Cash and two packs of cigarettes were stolen with an estimated value of $73.

A resident in the 1500 block of Darien Lake Drive reported that between July 15 at approximately 6 p.m. and July 16 at 10:30 a.m., someone broke the driver’s side window and stole a garage door opener. Estimated value of loss $250.

A resident in the 900 block of Tamarack Drive reported that between July 15 at approximately 10 p.m. and July 16 at 11 a.m., someone entered a vehicle parked on the driveway. No signs of forced entry and it is unknown if the vehicle was locked. Various tools were stolen with an estimated value of $2,795.

A resident in the 500 block of 70th Street reported that between 3 and 4 a.m. July 16, someone entered two unlocked vehicles parked on the driveway. Cash and a pair of sunglasses were stolen with an estimated value of $120.

A resident in the 100 block of 69th Street reported that between July 15 at approximately 9:30 p.m. and July 16 at 1:44 p.m., someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway. Various bowling equipment was stolen with an unknown estimated value at the time it was reported.

A resident in the 100 block of 69th Street reported that between midnight and 5:30 p.m. on July 16, someone entered and unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway. A key fob, laser and keychain were stolen with an estimated value of $200.

A resident in the 500 block of 70th Street reported that between July 15 at approximately 7:30 p.m. and July 16 at 8 a.m., someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway. A pair of sunglasses were stolen with an estimated value of $120.

A resident in the 3300 block of Ailsworth Court reported that between July 17 at approximately 7 p.m. and July 18 at 10:13 a.m., someone entered two vehicles parked on the driveway. No signs of forced entry and it is unknown if the vehicles were locked. Cash was stolen with estimated value of $60.

A resident in the 3300 block of Gilbert Court reported that between July 17 at approximately 8 p.m. and July 18 at 11:35 a.m., someone entered two vehicles parked on the driveway. No signs of forced entry and it is unknown if the vehicles were locked. Unknown amount of cash was stolen.

A resident in the 3000 block of Spring Green Drive reported that between July 15, at approximately 5:35 p.m. and July 18 at 8:30 a.m., someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway. A laptop was stolen with an estimated value of $1,000.

A resident in the 8400 block of Dixon Court reported that between July 17 at approximately 4 p.m. and July 18 at 5 a.m., someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked on the driveway. Unknown amount of cash was stolen.
