Hinsdale Township High School District 86 today reported that the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded District 86 the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

The District’s CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motive potential user groups to read the CAFR.

In addition, Chief Financial Officer Bill Eagan was presented the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement. GFOA states that when a certificate of achievement is awarded, an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement is also presented to the individual or department designated as primarily responsible for having earned the certificate.

“It is exciting to know that we have met the requirements to be among the elite of school districts as well as municipalities with our financial reporting,” said Mr. Eagan. “My staff and I worked very hard to ensure District 86 would meet the rigorous criteria, I am immensely proud of all we have accomplished.”
