Hindu Complex Planned Near Burr Ridge
Homes, a shopping center and assembly buildings are in the works.

BURR RIDGE, IL – A development of homes, a shopping center and two religious assembly buildings are planned for Route 83 southwest of Burr Ridge.
Two Hindu religious buildings are already on the site for Chinmaya Mission Chicago. They are a retreat and an instructional center called Badri – A School of Vedantic Studies. The structures will remain, with one in line for an addition.
DuPage County is considering zoning for the project. It is on the west side of Route 83, between Mockingbird Lane and Bluff Road.

If Burr Ridge, as the closest town, objects to the plan, then the development must pass the County Board with a three-fourths vote, not just a simple majority.
On Monday, the village's Plan Commission plans to review the project. It meets at 7 p.m. at Village Hall.

Under the proposal, the Chinmaya Mission plans 71 homes, a 14,000-square-foot shopping center and two religious buildings covering 55,000 square feet.
