Hinsdale Police Reports: Theft, Burglary, DUI, Identity Theft
Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through Sept. 15.

Someone reported a person was added to her credit card as an authorized user and tried to charge $6,100 in purchases between Aug. 28 and Sept. 8, according to Hinsdale police. The victim received letters notifying her of credit limit increase requests from her other credit cards.
Someone called the victim Sept. 4 and claimed she won a prize, but she had to send money to claim it, according to Hinsdale police. The victim sent cashier’s checks totaling $16,800.

Someone stole a pedestrian crossing sign valued at $350 between Sept. 8 and 9 from the roadway at Hinsdale Avenue and Washington Street, according to Hinsdale police.
Someone stole a bike valued at $400 Sept. 11 from a garage in the 10 block of West Ayres Avenue, according to Hinsdale police. There were no signs of forced entry to the garage, and the owner believed it was open at the time of the theft.

Hector Castro Jr, age 24 of the 200 block of East Avenue, La Grange, was arrested Sept. 9 and charged with possession of cannabis, less than 30 grams, according to Hinsdale police. Andrew L Smith, age 23 of the 4500 block of Grove Avenue, Brookfield, was also arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and failure to yield at an intersection, police reported, after officers were dispatched to a traffic crash at Hillcrest and Third.
Someone sent text messages to a woman Sept. 12, causing her to be alarmed and threatened, according to Hinsdale police. The person continued to text and call the woman after she told him to stop contacting her.
Someone broke the tail light of a car parked in a driveway between Sept. 11 and 12 in the 10 block of North Stough Street, according to Hinsdale police. A broken bottle of wine was also found in the driveway.
Ryan Jospeh Rigo, age 22 of the 10300 block of Clock Tower Drive in Countryside, was arrested Sept. 3 for drunken driving and improper lane use at 8th Street and Garfield Avenue, according to Hinsdale police.
Someone used a victim’s identity to open an account and charge $1,134.07 for a Comcast account, according to Hinsdale police. The victim’s identity was also used to file a fraudulent tax return.
Someone forced entry into a detached garage between Sept. 13 and 14 in the 600 block of Woodside Avenue, according to Hinsdale police. An E-Cigarette valued at $100 was reported missing from the garage.
Someone entered unlocked cars Between Sept. 12 and 13 in a driveway in the 300 block of North Washington Street, according to Hinsdale police. An iPod valued at less than $100 was reported missing from one of the cars.
Someone paid $950 for services May 4 that weren’t performed, and the payment wasn’t returned, according to Hinsdale police.
