Hinsdale Police Reports: Underage Drinking, Theft, DUI

Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through April 19.

Someone used a victim’s information April 11 to attempt to open credit accounts.

Someone removed a Barometer valued at $695, a brass peacock valued at $1,950 and three pair of cufflinks with a total value of $460 between April 8 and 9 from a store in the 0-100 block of S Washington.

Police were sent to a three-car property damage crash April 15 in the 0-100 block of Spinning Wheel Road. Venkata S Kumaran, 44 of the 0-100 block of Spinning Wheel Road in Hinsdale, crashed into two legally parked vehicles, police reported. Kumaran was observed to be under the influence of alcohol and submitted to testing that indicated he was over the legal limit. He was charged with DUI, DUI over 0.08 and operating an uninsured vehicle and released to appear in court.

Joseph Lencs Jr, 49 of the 6000 block of Bentley in Willowbrook, was stopped April 15 for improper lane use and expired registration at 55th and Quincy. Lencs was observed to be under the influence of alcohol, and he refused testing to determine BAC. He was charged with DUI, improper lane use, expired registration and operating an uninsured vehicle and released to appear in court.

A teenager of Aurora was stopped April 15 for improper lane use at County Line Road and Ogden Avenue. He was observed to be under the influence of alcohol, and he refused testing to determine BAC. He was charged with zero tolerance- alcohol and improper lane use and released to appear in court.

Daniel R McVeigh, 26 of the 7500 block of Wilton Road in Darien, was stopped April 16 for speeding at Ogden Avenie and Route 83. McVeigh was observed to be under the influence of alcohol, and he refused testing to determine BAC. He was charged with DUI and speeding and was released to appear in court.

A male 18 year old of Hinsdale was a passenger in a car stopped April 16 for not having headlights on when required at Third Street and Princeton Road. The teenager was observed to be under the influence of alcohol, and he submitted to testing that indicated he consumed alcohol. He was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by person under 21 and was released to a parent. The driver was issued a citation for driving without headlights when required.

Kimberly R Karpavicius, 40 of the 600 block of W 56th Place in Clarendon Hills, was stopped April 17 for failing to signal when required at North Street and Garfield Avenue. She was observed to be under the influence of alcohol, and she refused testing to determine BAC. She was charged with DUI, driving while license suspended, failure to signal and operating an uninsured vehicle and released to appear in court.

Someone stole the contents of a package between April 16 and 17 that was delivered to the victim’s apartment building in the 100 block of N County Line Road. Items taken were brake sensors valued at $16.

Someone used a victim’s credit card information between Nov. 20, 2015 and April 14 to make two fraudulent transactions totaling $29.15.

Someone used a victims’ identity April 17 to file a fraudulent tax return.
