This Many Deer In Burr Ridge Mayor's Backyard
"It's just one of the great things about living in Burr Ridge," the mayor said.
BURR RIDGE, IL – Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso took a moment at Monday's Village Board meeting to show one of the reasons he likes living in the village.
On a projector, Grasso displayed a photo of a herd of deer in his backyard.
"Recently, we've been getting more and more deer. The other night, I had 10 in my backyard," he said.

Grasso lives in the neighborhood east of Ruth Lake Country Club.
He marveled at how many deer there are in town, saying he did not grow up in a Burr Ridge-type town growing up.

"I just think it's just one of the great things about living in Burr Ridge, where we have enough land and open space 20 miles from downtown Chicago," Grasso said.
The mayor said he feeds the birds every morning and that a couple of deer like the food. He said he might put some deer food out, perhaps finding it at a sporting goods store that serves hunters.
"It's a shame they're hunted. I get that people like to do that," the mayor said. "But in my backyard, I like to see them run around."
