BURR RIDGE, IL – By page views, the story on the arrest of a man in the Willowbrook mass shooting was the most-read in 2023 on the Burr Ridge Patch.

1. Arrest In Fatal Willowbrook Juneteenth Shooting That Wounded Dozens (Oct. 6): An Aurora man was arrested this week in a mass shooting that resulted in one death and 22 injured at the Juneteenth celebration in an unincorporated area near Willowbrook and Burr Ridge, authorities said.

2. Burr Ridge Eatery 'Honored' By O.J. Simpson Visit (June 21): The owner of Burr Ridge's Capri Ristorante touted a visit by O.J. Simpson last week, saying in a video he was "very honored" to have the former professional football player as a guest. That turned out to be a public relations problem for the restaurant, prompting an apology.

3. 'Parade Of Middle-Aged Men' At Burr Ridge Home (Aug. 30): A Burr Ridge resident says she is concerned about a house made up of middle-aged men across the street. At this week's Village Board meeting, Jen McConahy, who lives in the 600 block of Camelot Drive, said she realized the house was unusual after her family moved in two years ago.

4. Unrelated People In Homes? Burr Ridge Ponders Stricter Rule (Aug. 3): Burr Ridge officials are looking at a lower limit for the number of unrelated people who can live in a house. Now, up to five unrelated people can live in a house, which is higher than in many other towns.

5. When Burr Ridge Restaurant Plans To Open (July 5): Pella Signature, which is set to become Burr Ridge's biggest restaurant, plans to open in early August. "We're thrilled to bring a new Mediterranean culinary experience to Burr Ridge," spokeswoman Christina Bumba said in an email to Patch last week.

6. New Burr Ridge Restaurant Set To Open This Summer (May 25): Pella Signature, which is set to be the largest restaurant in Burr Ridge, is now expected to open this summer. Last July, the owner, Alexander Kostandinov, had hoped to open the doors by last winter.

7. Costco May Come To Burr Ridge (Aug. 17): The CNH property in Burr Ridge is under a contingent contract with Bridge Industrial, a company that buys properties around the country. Bridge has approached the village with a preliminary plan for the property.

8. Coyote Hybrid Seen In Burr Ridge: Village (Aug. 25): A coyote hybrid known as a "coywolf" was seen Friday afternoon in Burr Ridge, police announced. The animal is about 55 pounds heavier than a typical coyote, having elongated legs, a more pronounced jaw, smaller ears and a bushier tail, the village said.

9. Burr Ridge Nightclub To Be Revamped (July 25): Burr Ridge's Are We Live lounge is getting a new name and cuisine. The new name is Gazi Tapas By Gigi, which refers to the owner, Filippo "Gigi" Rovito.

10. Burr Ridge Official Denied Knowing Of Costco Possibility (Sept. 28): In April, a top Burr Ridge official told Patch he was unaware of whether Costco was under consideration as part of the redevelopment of an old industrial property. But Village Administrator Evan Walter's emails show otherwise.
