Public Hearing on Annexation of Saia Property Postponed
The board voted unanimously to continue the discussion until June 13.

Burr Ridge residents will have to wait another three weeks to provide input on the annexation property agreement for the land at 15W460 North Frontage Road, currently occupied by Saia Motor and Freight.
The reason is that the village has yet to complete the annexation agreement. According to Steve Stricker, the village administrator, there are some outstanding legal issues that need to be addressed before the agreement is finalized.
"There are still a handful of issues that need to be addressed that don't pertain to the changes we have been talking about," said Stricker, referring to the previously proposed measures to reduce noise at the trucking depot that have been discussed since the village met on the issue in December. These measures included the construction of a wall around the property to act as a sound buffer and ways to reduce the noise made by dock plates.

Chestnut Hills resident and spokesman Steve Less asked what the outstanding legal issues were, and Mayor Gary Grasso said one of the issues pertained to attorneys' fees proposed by one of the other parties.
Steve Stricker said another reason for continuing the discussion was that he felt the process should not be rushed.

"We want residents to be able to review the documents ahead of time," said Stricker, adding that he felt bringing the agreement out before residents had a chance to review them might be "too much too soon."
"We fully expect to have a final agreement for the next meeting," said Stricker.
The board voted unanimously to continue the issue until its meeting on June 13.
