Royal Wedding Fever Comes to Burr Ridge
A local group decided to make watching the royal wedding on television an event of its own in Burr Ridge.
With news of the royal wedding between Britain's Prince William and Catherine Middleton making headlines, members of the Daughters of the British Empire came to the Marriott in Burr Ridge to celebrate.
The group spent the night on the hotel's second floor, where they each had their own room and had rented a hospitality suite so they could watch the event.
"We just all wanted to be together to watch this lovely occasion. This doesn't happen very often, you know," said Barbara Bond, a member of the DBE group during an interview with the WGN early Friday morning .

Bond said that in order to be a member of the group someone has to have British heritage, be a part of the British Commonwealth or be married to someone who is British.
"We set them up in a hospitality suite, which has a living room atmosphere, so they could sit up all night together," said Kathy Pauley, catering manager for the Chicago Marriott Southwest at Burr Ridge. "We also sent them champagne to celebrate."
