What is your favorite thing about your job?
Moore: My favorite thing about being a teacher, at Garden Hills, is my students. I love building relationships with them and truly getting to know them as individuals. They help me become a better person and I hope that they see that I advocate for them to be the best that they can be, as well. You can find us doing Lunch Bunch- EVERY DAY!

What do you find most rewarding in your job?
Moore: The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the joy a student gets when they say, “I understand now, Miss Moore!!!”. There is something about knowing you helped nurture a student’s future whether that be by being able to decode words, understand multiplication, or just to be able to regulate their feelings in an age-appropriate manner.
Where did you earn your degree?
Moore: I earned my bachelor's degree from Indiana University! They have an amazing education program that allowed me to receive a lot of field experience in all school settings.
What is your philosophy (or favorite quote) that motivates your work?
Moore: It is simple, but when I get stressed/overwhelmed I remind myself that it is “Their Future”. Those two words bring immediate peace to me and remind me that the work I am doing is not for myself, but for them, and they deserve everything I can give to them/advocate for. I have a plaque hanging in my classroom that is a nice reminder of this.
Who has had the biggest influence on your career?
Moore: Two of my friends from Indy - Julie and Jennifer. All in different stages of life, but still dedicated to bettering themselves for their students and engaging the community and families. I have learned so much from them and have become a better educator because of it.
What is something no one knows about you (and you care to share)?
Moore: I moved to Champaign, this summer, from Indianapolis with my family!
What are your favorite activities/interests outside of school?
Moore: I love to listen to podcasts, workout, and be with my family. I am also super interested in home renovations. We just bought a home and have been remodeling it! Stressful, but fun!
