Champaign Unit 4 School District: Two District Elementaries, One High School Named To U.S. News & World Report “Best” Rankings

Three Unit 4 schools were named to the recently announced U.S. News & World Report “Best” rankings. Central High School earned “Best High Schools” recognition while Carrie Busey Elementary and Bottenfield Elementary made the “Best Elementary Schools” list. As a result, each school is eligible to display a U.S. News-trademarked 2022 Best Schools award “badge.”

Central achieved its status by earning a national ranking in the top 40% of nearly 18,000 high schools. Its overall score of 83.7/100 placed No. 108 among Illinois high schools and No. 2,911 nationally. The Best High School rankings are produced in conjunction with RTI International, a global search firm.

For the first time, U.S. News ranked elementary schools based on their performance on state-required tests, graduation, and how well they prepare their students for high school. Carrie Busey placed among the top 30% of elementary schools in Illinois, ranked No. 240 in the state, with an overall score of 88.27/100. Bottenfield followed closely with an overall score of 88.02/100 for a No. 245 state ranking.
