2 Die In Fiery Wreck On Route 113: Braidwood FD

Two vehicles went up in flames following Tuesday's early morning collision on Route 113 and Irish Lane in Custer Park.

BRAIDWOOD, IL — The Braidwood Fire Department announced that two people were killed Tuesday from an early morning fiery head-on crash on Route 113 near Irish Lane in Custer Park.

The wreck happened at 5:17 a.m. and Braidwood provided a full response to help Custer Fire Protection District put out the fires caused by the wreck.

Illinois State Police said a Toyota Camry was southbound in Route 113 when for unknown reasons it crossed into the northbound lane, hitting a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck head on, causing both vehicles to burst into flames.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck, a 47-year-old Kankakee man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Will County Coroner's Office identified him as Andrew J. Adams.

His passenger, a 30-year-old man, also from Kankakee, was taken to an area hospital, where he died.

The sole occupant of the Camry, a 21-year-old Kankakee man, was brought to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Potential charges in the crash are pending investigation, according to Illinois State Police.

The emergency happened in Custer Park's jurisdiction. Braidwood Fire provided assistance as did Wilmington, Coal City, Limestone Braceville, Essex, Braidwood Emergency Service Disaster Agency and Illinois State Police.

The double fatality is under the jurisdiction of Illinois State Police and the Will County Coroner's Office, Braidwood police announced.
