Shorewood DUI Charge For 58-Year-Old Man Sleeping Inside His Vehicle: Police
This 58-year-old Shorewood resident was passed out in the driver's seat behind Express Liquors, authorities revealed.

SHOREWOOD, IL — The Shorewood Police Department made a Monday morning DUI arrest, but the circumstances of the event did not involve an officer pulling over a driver struggling to maintain control of their vehicle. According to the arrest report, 58-year-old Shorewood resident James Maticic now faces a DUI. He comes from the Imperial Mobile Home Park at 204 E. Jefferson St.
The time of Monday's arrest was 11:43 a.m. and it happened in the 700 block of West Jefferson Street.
According to the police department, officers were dispatched for a welfare check. At the scene, they came in contact with Maticic, who was passed out in the driver’s seat behind the Express Liquors.

Officers realized the vehicle’s engine running and the keys in the ignition, the arrest report showed. Maticic also parked perpendicularly across multiple parking spaces, police say, and officers smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Maticic’s breath. His eyes appeared extremely red, glassy and blood shot, according to police.
Shorewood police said Maticic admitted to having approximately 3 shots of an alcoholic beverage and taking unknown pain medication.

Officers asked Maticic to complete a field sobriety testing, but he refused. Maticic was placed under arrest for driving under the influence. He was given a citation with court information, therefore, no mugshot was taken.
