CHANNAHON — Despite the efforts of the Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow, Will County Judge Ken Zelazo notified 24-year-old Channahon criminal defendant Daniel Farley that he's free to go home after this week's domestic battery arrest by Channahon police following a violent encounter at the Big Basin Marina.

According to the prosecutors, on June 3, at 10:07 p.m., Channahon police were called to the Big Basin Marina on West Front Street for a domestic. A woman in the parking lot told them Farley attacked her and damaged her vehicle following an argument.

The Minooka woman told the police that Farley was intoxicated and would likely be combative with the officers.

According to the victim's account to Channahon police, Farley became upset with her after they left Lallo's Bar and Grill in Channahon and on their way to a birthday celebration at Big Basin.

Inside Big Basin, the bar staff told Farley to leave because he was banned from the bar for a prior incident.

Daniel Farley, age 24, comes from May Street in Channahon. He spent two days in the Will County Jail this week after Channahon police arrested him.

According to the Will County prosecution petition to deny Farley's pretrial release:

  • Farley became upset and started punching items outside, and that's when the young woman offered Farley a ride home; then he started yelling at her again.
  • Farley punched and kicked her white Kia sedan, causing more than $2,000 damage. He threw his cell phone at the back of her head and then rushed up to her, punching her in the back of the head with his fist.
  • Farley pushed her car door forward, causing several dents, leaving a detached door.
  • At that moment, the Minooka woman tried to close the door to hide from Farley, and then he got on top of her Kia and taunted her.
  • Finally, Farley left the area after an unknown man confronted him in the Big Basin parking lot.

  • The woman provided a police statement, but declined medical attention. Channahon police took photos of her Kia and the injuries to her left ear. She later complained to Channahon Fire Department about feeling dizzy from the head pain.
  • At the time of his capture, Channahon police noted that Farley was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and had a heavy odor of alcohol on his breath. He told the Channahon officer that everything he did was in self-defense. Farley claimed he tried walking away from the woman at the Big Basin and that she punched him in the back of the head.
  • "I gave her what she gave me," Farley told Channahon police, according to prosecutors.
  • While getting ready to be taken to the Will County Jail, Farley told Channahon police, "he hopes (she) dies," according to Will County prosecutors.

Glasgow's office has charged Farley with criminal damage to property and four counts of domestic battery.

According to the petition to deny pretrial release, Farley was charged in November 2022 with domestic battery in Grundy County, and the case was dismissed in April 2023. In 2017, Farley was arrested and later convicted in Grundy County of criminal trespass.

Following Wednesday's SAFE-T-Act hearing, Judge Zelazo told Farley he can leave the Will County Jail, but he was being placed on home confinement, and he must stay away from the victim and her residence in Minooka until further order from the judge.
