CHANNAHON, IL — The Channahon Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant from a Will County judge against 27-year-old Isreael Davis of Chicago's South Indiana Avenue in connection with the Oct. 15 heist from the Channahon Amazon warehouse property that resulted in the capture of five different criminal defendants at the time.

According to last week's criminal complaint, Davis is charged in Will County with theft, two counts of burglary, criminal damage to property, aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

Prosecutors indicated that on Oct. 15, Davis "knowingly obtained control over stolen property of the owner, Amazon, computer monitors and vacuums knowing the property to have been stolen, having a value exceeding $10,000 and not exceeding $100,000."

Davis is accused of entering a semi-trailer at the Amazon Warehouse at 23714 West Amoco Road in Channahon "with the intent to commit a theft and in doing so, caused damage to said motor vehicle or any part thereof," court records show.

The criminal damage to property charge indicates Davis knowingly damaged a fence and security cameras and the damage exceeded $500 but not $10,000.

The fifth charge for Davis notes he drove a silver Hyundai SUV upon Route 6 and Bradley Street in Channahon and despite the presence of overhead lights and sirens from a pursuing police officer, Davis "willfully failed or refused to obey such direction, and such flight ... was at a rate of speed of at least 21 mph over the legal speed limit."

Davis has yet to be captured as of Monday, Nov. 21. He comes from the 9200 block of Chicago's South Indiana Avenue.

Back on Wednesday, Oct. 15, Channahon Police Chief Adam Bogart issued a press release revealing that at 11:09 a.m. that day, Channahon police received two phone calls from witnesses reporting six to seven people removing large boxes from the Amazon facility at 23714 Amoco Road, near the intersection with South Bradley Street.

As responding officers approached the facility, a U-Haul van and silver SUV were leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Officers followed both vehicles onto northbound I-55, where another officer successfully deployed tire deflation devices on the U-Haul van, flattening its driver-side tires just north of U.S. Route 6.

Officers continued to follow the U-Haul until it became inoperable. Two people in the van were taken into custody on I-80 near Briggs Street in Joliet. The silver SUV continued fleeing from police.

The silver SUV exited I-80 at Briggs Street, where officers again deployed tire deflation devices, disabling the vehicle. The SUV was followed a short distance before the additional suspects ran off.

While five suspects were taken into custody in total, one remained at large. The missing suspect was described as a black male with long dreadlocks, Bogart noted.

Over $30,000 in proceeds were recovered from the vehicles involved in the Amazon heist, Bogart shared. All five of the arrested suspects were taken to the Will County Jail.
