How Do I Cook Cabbage?
Patch solves the mystery with a variety of recipes to go with your corned beef main dish on Sunday.

My mom is a great cook. It is because of her and my grandmother that I am such a great cook. On Sunday, she will be cooking corned beef for St. Patrick's Day. I am guessing she will also take a stab at making gluten-free soda bread for me since I said I was coming. But there is a standard to the American version of the St. Paddy's meal that she wants nothing to do with - cabbage.
I said I would bring the cabbage. I am confident that I can manage this. But I have a variety of approaches to take when cooking the vegetable.
Cabbage is really high in nutrients and low in fat. It belongs to the same family of vegetables as bok choy and califlower. It's a great source of vitamin K according to the nutrition and you Web site.

The first option is to cook cabbage in a traditional way. Colcannon is a preparation that uses bacon and includes potatoes in the dish. A full recipe for this preparation can be found here. There is even a song written about the dish.
But that is not the only way to cook, well, a head of cabbage. Simplyrecipes.com has options for both sauteing and boiling the cabbage.
