Kids 'Owe Everything' To Their Hardworking, Supportive Dad

CHANNAHON-MINOOKA, IL— Father's Day is the perfect time to give a big thanks to all the dads who put smiles on our faces. Channahon-Minooka, meet Arthur Cruz Jr.

If you know a dad who sends sweet, silly or thoughtful texts your way, you’re pretty lucky. Texts from Dad have a way of putting a smile on our faces — and this Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the fathers behind the phones!

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on awesome dads and the funny, insightful things they say. This submission comes from Tristan Salinas who nominated Arthur Cruz Jr. of Channahon-Minooka.

What makes your dad extra special?

He is such a hard worker! He works long hours so my mom can stay home and take care of me and my brothers. My youngest brother is on a ventilator and is only 3 years old, so my mom and dad are always so tired. Even if he is tired, he always is there for us all. My dad had to learn so much to take care of my baby brother and when my baby brother almost died he supported my mom and us still. Because of my dad, my baby brother is thriving and all three of us kids owe everything to my dad.

Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?

Being a dad is hard enough, but being a dad to a medically complex child is exhausting. I always say he never got the spotlight he deserved. Not only did he adopt me as his own, but he has two other kids and one is very sick. My mom is in the healthcare field and knew what to do but my dad was not and had to learn so much and never once complained.
