Rueger, Minooka's Police Dog, Can Now Enjoy His Retirement Years
Rueger's work has directly led to the seizure of substantial quantities of illegal narcotics and U.S. currency, Minooka Police highlighted.

MINOOKA, IL — One of the most read news bulletins shared by the Minooka Police Department came at the end of May as Minooka announced that Rueger, its police dog for the past 11 years, is now going off to enjoy his retirement years.
"We hope that Rueger enjoys his retirement and is able to relax and enjoy his time playing fetch in the back yard," the police department proclaimed to its Facebook followers.
Minooka pointed out that Rueger had a major impact on numerous criminal investigations over the years.
"Since 2014 K9 Rueger has been one of Minooka's finest. Rueger's work has directly led to the seizure of substantial quantities of illegal narcotics and U.S. currency including: 68,000 grams of cannabis, 16,000 grams of cocaine, 6,000 grams of methamphetamine, 4,000 grams of heroin, 1,440 MDMA pills and over $283,000 in illicit currency," the police department said.
Long-time Minooka Police Chief Justin Meyer also offered praise for Rueger's role at his police department since 2014: "Rueger's loyalty, discipline, and service, embodies the mission and values of the Minooka Police Department. His contributions have strengthened both the department's enforcement capabilities and it's connection to the community."
