Snow and Ice Predicted for Rest of the Week

The National Weather Service is predicting some rough weather for the Channahon-Minooka area.

Nasty winter weather is on the way for Channahon and Minooka.

The National Weather Service is warning of a hazardous outlook for the next couple days.

On Thursday the forecast is calling for 4 to 5 inches of accumulating snow in the afternoon and into the evening hours.

Snow could change over to periods of freezing drizzle and light snow by early Friday. 

If you find yourself in need of shelter, you have two options within the village of Channahon. Channahon Fire Station #1 on Center Street, is available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Channahon Three Rivers Library is available during the normal business hours, as follows:
9a.m. to 9 p.m.,  Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday. The library is closed on Sunday.

In Minooka, the primary warming center is in Minooka Bible Church, 412 N. Wabena Ave. That center was open earlier in the afternoon. The secondary shelters are St. Mary’s Church on St. Mary’s Street and Massasoit and the Old Minooka Fire Station one, on Mondamin and Ridge Road.
