Storm Affects Will County Forest Preserve

Multiple preserves were closed due to flooding.

The Forest Preserve District of Will County closed several preserves Tuesday and canceled one program as the result of Monday night’s storm.

The following forest preserves were closed due to flooding: McKinley Woods - Frederick’s Grove in Channahon; Forked Creek Preserve – Ballou Road Access in Wilmington; Forked Creek Preserve – Forsythe Woods in Wilmington; and Evans-Judge Preserve in Wilmington.

All of the preserves are located in the county’s southwestern section, which was hardest hit by the storm. The preserves will remain closed Tuesday, and conditions will be reassessed Wednesday.

In addition, the “Reptiles of the Dunes” program scheduled for Thursday, June 25, at Braidwood Dunes and Savanna Nature Preserve in Braidwood has been canceled.
