Storm Damage At Minooka HS Campus, Channahon Streets
Tuesday afternoon's storms damaged several large trees across the village of Channahon.

CHANNAHON, IL — The village of Channahon canceled Tuesday night's village board meeting as a result of the storm damage across the community. More than 1,800 residents are without power in Channahon and another 1,500 in Minooka, according to ComEd.
Tuesday night's Channahon village meeting has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 20.
"At this time, phones at Village Hall and the Police Department Administrative Offices are down." Channahon announced in Tuesday evening's news release. "There are reports of multiple trees and utility lines down in our area. The village, together with the Channahon Fire Protection District, Channahon Police Department and public utilities, are currently assessing the damage. We are prioritizing public safety responses."

Minooka officials issued a news release stating there was damage at the Minooka High School Central campus. The news release did not indicate the extent of damage or whether it involved buildings. Nobody at the high school was hurt.

At 6:45 p.m., Channahon village officials announced the following areas have downed wires and should be avoided at all costs:

People who come across downed trees or power line are urged to stay away from them and do not touch them. To report any downed lines or trees blocking roadways, please call 815-467-9259, the village of Channahon asked.
