Troy 30-C celebrates students’ roots with Multicultural Festival
Event offered culinary tastes, entertainment and insight into various cultures

The benefits of speaking more than one language are many, according to author Araseli Rodriguez, who spoke to families at Troy Community School District 30-C’s recent Multicultural Festival. Being multilingual increases brain power, attention and creativity, she said, and also gives academic advantages and improves one’s competitiveness in the job market.
The festival also introduced families to tasty snacks from such countries as Japan, France, Mexico, Columbia, Italy, Turkey, South Korea, Jamaica, South Africa and Romania.
Students also displayed posters with information about their families’ countries of origin.
