Troy Craughwell Run Club a passion for teachers, students
Ninety students sign up for club's first year

Nicole Koenig, PE teacher at Troy Craughwell Elementary School, developed a passion for running years ago, when she was a student on the Troy Middle School Cross Country Team. Her experiences there, under the superb coaching team of John Davis and Mark Clarke, eventually led her to begin Craughwell’s Run Club last fall. She, along with co-coaches Ashley Jonen, Joyce Forenzo and Ellen Roesel, have worked hard to make the program a huge success.
There are 90 students in the Run Club this year.
“We began it with the hopes of motivating children to keep their bodies and minds healthy,” Koenig said. “This is a lifelong activity for physical and mental well-being. My vision for the Craughwell runnng program is to build students' confidence, instill commitment and leave them with a feeling of success.”

Olympic Marathon Trials Qualifier, Marissa Hird, recently spoke with the club about training and goal-setting and some of her personal running experiences.
“The students were then given the opportunity to run alongside her,” Koenig said.
