Troy Middle School Mathletes place 1st at competition
The Troy 30-C team beat out eight challengers to earn top spot

The Troy Middle School Mathletes took first place at the recent Mid-High Math Competition held at Joliet West High School. The team bested eight other Joliet-area schools to achieve the honor.
According to Mathletes coach and T.M.S. math teacher Allison Rose, the 7th-grade categories were Pi, Polygons, Pythagorean Theorem and Group. The team placed 1st in Pi, 3rd in Pythagorean Theorem and 1st in Group.
The 8th-grade categories were Matrices, Missing Angles, Monomials and Group. The team finished 2nd in Matrices, 1st in Missing Angles, 1st in Monomials and 1st in Group.

Mathlete members who participated in the event were Abigail Fagan, Caroline Ferak, Erik Gomez, Cathryn Governale, Lucy Higgins, Cassidy Malloy, George Ndy-Orji, Lukas Pavlis, Ella Price, Aaryn Reyes, Julia Shutts-Fruit, Hailey Smidl, Emma Trainor, Arielle Villasin and Zeb Zamoras.
