Overall, 19 Chicago-area hospitals will be participating in Fifth Third Bank's namesake day program this week.

This is the second year Fifth Third Bank has recognized its namesake day by doling out money to newborns, the report stated. In 2017, the bank ran a similar program for more than 100 Cincinnati newborns, the report added.

And what does the financial institution hope the parents do with their found money? The bank will urge them to invest it in college saving plans, but the recipients are free to spend the money any way they like, the Tribune reports.
