14 Hurt In 50-Plus Car Crash On Kennedy Expressway
Low traction due to snow caused more than 50 cars to pile up on the Kennedy Expressway Wednesday morning, CFD officials said.
CHICAGO, IL — More than a dozen people were hurt after nearly 70 cars were involved in a pileup around 5 a.m. Wednesday on the Kennedy Expressway, the Chicago Fire Department said. Chicago fire officials said more than 50 cars were involved in the crash at North Avenue. The weather caused low traction on the expressway, leading to multiple crashes.
According to WGN, nine vehicles were involved in the accident at California Ave., and 14 people were checked out by medics at the scene.
All inbound lanes were shut down at North Ave. for nearly five hours, but reopened around 10 a.m.
