2 Dead, 1 Hurt In Shooting Leading To Crash On Eisenhower

Illinois State Police said a driver was shot early Sunday morning, causing him to crash the vehicle which killed another passenger.

CHICAGO — Two people were killed Sunday morning after a shooting along the Eisenhower Expressway led to a traffic crash, Illinois State Police said.

Troopers were called to the scene on Interstate 290 at Kostner Avenue at around 2:35 a.m., a spokesperson for ISP told Patch.

Preliminary reports indicated the driver of the car was struck by gunfire, leading him to crash the vehicle. The crash was a single-vehicle incident, officials said.

The driver was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

A front seat passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and another passenger was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries from the crash, according to authorities.

The names of those pronounced dead had not been released as of Monday afternoon, but information from the Cook County Medical Examiner's office lists one 30-year-old man and another 29-year-old man who died at the scene. It was not immediately known which man was the driver, who died from gunshot wounds, and which man died from the crash.
